For all I know, General Buhari was and is an Islamic fundamentalist, without adequate national ,(how much more )world view.
Tell me his friends in the North and South of Nigeria or even in the world and I will tell you his followers. Tell me how many times this man left Katsina or the shores of Nigeria , discuss national issues or feature at the governance of Nigeria except during campaign years.
This man is not fit to be a Nigerian President.
Those of you who want to re-write history and canonize General Buhari have been getting louder lately. I think we should remind you of a few things.
1. Buhari hates TRANSPARENCY. When he had the chance to keep Government honest -when he was actually Commander-in-Chief, Buhari made it ILLEGAL for Government to be Transparent! He made it ILLEGAL for journalists to publish even the TRUTH about government.
2. Buhari's Government tried Chief Adekunle Ajasin, not once, not twice, but THREE times! And after Ajasin had been THRICE-acquitted of all corruption charges, they jailed him anyway! Is that how you fight corruption -by running a corrupt law-enforcement program, by misusing the instruments of state to witch-hunt those you don't like?
3. His Government sentenced Fela Anikulapo to 10 years in prison, using fabricated money-laundering charges! Does a decent leader frame his citizens? Is this a great example to set - misusing the instruments of state to witch-hunt those you don't like?
4. He jailed Dr Bello Ransome-Kuti, and even banned Bello's Medical Association -because they dared to campaign against the lack of drugs in hospitals!! Is this the behavior of a Messiah-Leader?
5. Buhari's Government jailed Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor - for daring to publish nothing but the TRUTH!!! Is this how you build a great nation?
6. He jailed Tai Solarin, just for daring to distribute pamphlets on street corners!!! Is this the behaviour of a Messiah-Leader?
7. Like an indisciplined high-handed dictator, Buhari drugged Umaru Dikko, kidnapped him from a sovereign country, and tried to ship him home on a crate! And all because, Dikko dared to criticize the regime after he had allowed him to escape with £60m! Is this the way to build a disciplined nation?
9. He jailed Ebenezer Babatope for absolutely no reason that any mortal can decipher. Babatope was never even charged or tried! Is this the behavior of a Messiah-Leader?
10. After the coup, he sent Shagari the president to a cosy house in Ikoyi because he is from a northern region (Hausa) while he sent Alex Ekwueme the vice president to kirikiri prison because he is from eastern region (Igbo)! Does this make sense?
11. He prohibited Labour Unions, and banned strikes and labour lock-outs at Ojota and elsewhere. Is this the behaviour of a Messiah-Leader?
13. Like a typical African dictator who wants to hang on forever, he forbade all public DISCUSSION democracy or a return to civilian rule. After others restored democracy nonetheless, he has since contested thrice to take advantage of these freedoms. Is this the behavior of a political messiah, or is it the behavior of another African tyrant who likes hanging around the corridors of power?
14. Above all, he did all these and more in TWO years! Just TWO years! If Buhari had the competence to hang on for 8 years, what would he have looked like at the end of his tenure? Would he be a great dictator? Would he have ended up like Paul Diya or Mobutu Sese-selo?
